I looked at the landscape to the left and right but everything appeared as it should be. Green hills went far away towards the horizon in all directions; we seemed to be on top of a plateau. Some uncertainty crawled up inside of me. I slowly and silently stepped to the left side of the truck and looked around it.
The road continued straight for the next 500 yards, slowly rising and then going down into another valley.
